Privacy Policy
The Cause app ("we," "us," "our"), developed by Know Thyself S.L., provides a platform for tracking journals. This policy explains how we handle your data when you use our local and cloud-based features.
Our Service
The Cause app is a platform to create tracking journals. While your data is primarily stored locally on your device, the app now offers optional Cloud Backup and Synchronization features to ensure your data is preserved if you change devices or wish to access it across multiple platforms.
Information Collection and Use
To provide the Cloud Backup and Sharing services, we collect and transmit certain information:
- Journal Data: If you enable Cloud Backup, your journal entries and tracking data are transmitted to and stored on our secure servers provided by Supabase.
- Account Information: If you create an account, we collect your email address via Supabase Auth.
- User-Initiated Sharing: If you explicitly choose to share a journal with another user, the app transmits that specific data to the intended recipient through our encrypted infrastructure.
Data Infrastructure & Security
We use Supabase (a backend-as-a-service) to host your cloud data.
- Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS/HTTPS protocols.
- Row-Level Security: We utilize Supabase's Row-Level Security (RLS) to ensure that your data is only accessible to you and the individuals you explicitly choose to share it with.
Data Retention and Deletion
You own your data. We only retain your cloud-stored data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the backup service.
In-App Deletion: You can delete your journals or your entire account and all associated cloud data via the My Data page (see the instructions).
Online Deletion: You may also request the deletion of your cloud-stored data via support@thyself.dev without needing to have the app installed. Upon request, all cloud-based data associated with your account will be permanently deleted from our servers. We will process these requests within 30 days.
Links to Other Sites
The Cause app may contain links to other sites. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. Note that these external sites are not operated by us. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of these websites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.
Children's Privacy
The Cause app does not address anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 18. If we discover that a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take the necessary actions.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes are effective when they are posted. Your continued use of the Service after we make changes is deemed acceptance of those changes. If you do not agree to the new terms, do not access or use the Cause app.
